Craigmillar Castle

You will find Craigmillar Castle and Duddingston Loch close to each other to the South of Arthur’s Seat. Both of them are usually quiet and make an interesting visit. I took these pictures on a warm September afternoon.

Craigmillar Castle was established in the early 15th Century and extended over the next two hundred years. It has interesting stonework, great views, secret passageways and stairs, a Great Hall where you can imagine feasting to the sound of Early Music and battlements where you can imagine watching for the enemy. You can find more information about the castle, and visiting arrangements, at the Historic Environment Scotland website
