Flowers

Flowers are everywhere – in gardens and parks, on waste ground, on hills, by the sea, on golf courses (usually gorse – which is beautiful to look at but not to find your ball in) and in garden centres (where they jump into your trolley by themselves). They bring colour, scent, texture, shape and beauty and they mark the rhythm of the year.

City of Edinburgh Council take a pride in their work to ensure the city is full of colourful flowers. Keen gardeners get many of their plants from the Council Nursery at the Inch. The Council runs a large Rose Garden at Saughton. Through the summer you will always find a crowd of people photographing the Flower Clock in Princes Street Gardens.
