Leith

Leith has a long history as the port for Edinburgh. Leith has been a major whaling port, a shipbuilding centre and the location for the first game of golf played to official rules. Today it is a vibrant community with a mix of the traditional and the modern and a rich variety of cultures. It is still a thriving port. It, if course, home to Hibernian Football Club (https://www.hibernianfc.co.uk/). The motto of Leith is Persevere. In line with the Proclaimers song – there is (almost) always Sunshine on Leith. The gallery on this page includes images of the Port of Leith, the Shore, local architecture and eateries. (I will expand this page in due course with more detailed history, photographs and helpful links.
