Newhaven Heritage – Old Graveyard

The Old Burial Ground in Newhaven Main Street has been a graveyard since at least 1505 and perhaps long before that. It is lovingly cared for by Emma Kemp as part of her work with Newhaven Heritage. The model lighthouse sits on top of an old drinking fountain that was rescued from a Council rubbish tip. It originally provided refreshment for the Newhaven Fishwives on their way up to Edinburgh to sell their herring and oysters.
