Campbell’s Magnolia

The 52 Frames challenge was to ensure most of the image was bright (‘High Key’)

Campbell’s Magnolia provides a dramatic spring feature in the Royal Botanical Gardens Edinburgh. The flowers are up to 30 cm in diameter. I had originally planned to take photos of white magnolia flowers against a backdrop of white clouds but couldn’t get a shot without trampling where I shouldn’t – or waiting a long time for the clouds to move. I loved the huge crimson flowers and the photo met the challenge.
