David Entertains the crowds

(The 52 Frames challenge was ‘Portrait of a Stranger’). David is playing the bagpipes in one of the best spots for Scottish buskers: underneath Edinburgh Castle rock at the entrance to Princes Street Gardens. I took this photo, tapped his card machine and asked if I could ask him a few questions. Time is money for a busker so I didn’t stay long! He has played solo bagpipes for over 40 years, but his main job is playing accordion every night in the Spirit of Scotland show. You do not need to book or pay a license fee to busk in Scotland – although you do need to follow guidelines: keep volume considerate and move on after one hour. Luckily for local residents and shopkeepers, David and most of the other pipers play at a high standard! (I was so focused on having the conversation, I didn’t spend long enough planning the shot!)
